The Government Coordination, Legal, and Legislative Committee of the Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Department, is responsible for recommending strategies for involving other government agencies, community service providers, and neighborhood and civic groups in community policing efforts.
Abstract
Some of the recommendations made to enhance interagency coordination were to route calls for nonpolice service to the appropriate agency and develop referral coordination, and to maximize communication and coordination with other county and local government agencies and departments, government and nongovernment service agencies, businesses and private security representatives, and the criminal justice system. The Committee also addressed ways to access additional sources funding and improve the coordination of legislative issues. Finally, this report identifies key areas that would increase officer effectiveness and availability.
