This volume presents the final report and 20 other reports issued by the New York State Commission on Government Integrity that examined government ethics from its inception in April 1987 until the conclusion of its work in September 1990; it recommended that the State's leadership promote needed ethics reforms as recommended by the commission.
Abstract
The commission was appointed due to widespread distrust of government following a series of corruption scandals involving officials at all levels of government. The commission focused on weaknesses in existing laws, regulations, and procedures relating to areas such as campaign financing, judicial selection, conflicts of interest, the solicitation of government business and approvals, and the use of public and political party positions for personal gain.
