This article describes various LED light products developed by Grace Industries in Pennsylvania that enhance officer safety when being visually seen is imperative.
Abstract
Officer safety is a broad issue that includes controlling an officer’s visual conspicuity and ensuring they are conspicuous while assisting nighttime traffic accidents or any night scene. Grace Industries of Fredonia, PA, has developed several LED light products to enhance officer safety when being conspicuous is critical. Five LED products are presented and described in this article. The Traffic Master Glow Baton was developed in three models to aid officers in directing traffic. The baton allows an officer to grab a motorist’s attention, it is lightweight, and the battery life of the baton is much longer due to the LED. The Lite Tracker is a personal safety light that is a small, pager-sized unit using LEDs with the light being available in numerous color and flash configurations. Several waterproof lighting systems were developed for use on waterways, featuring the same small pager size as the Lite Tracker. There are two Coast Guard-approved models and a BuoyLite that is especially adapted for marine applications. Infrared units are special ordered and provide a means of keeping track of personnel and canines during covert operations. Finally, Grace Industries developed two LED lights with forensic applications aiding in evidence gathering: the ShowOff UV and ShowOff Blue Forensic Lazor Lens Focused Lights.
