AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF ESSEXSFIELD, A GUIDED GROUP INTERACTION PROGRAM DESIGNED TO CHANGE THE BEHAVIOR OF JUVENILE DELINQUENTS.
Abstract
THE SOCIAL GROUP AS A BEHAVIOR DETERMINANT IS DOCUMENTED WITH AVAILABLE LITERATURE. THE BASIC STRATEGY OF GUIDED GROUP INTERACTION IS TO PROVIDE A GROUP DYNAMIC WITH ELEMENTS TO INFLUENCE CHANGE IN DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. THE AUTHORS PROBE THE MEANS BY WHICH THE GROUP INTEGRATES, DEVELOPS, AND OPERATES IN GROUP INTERACTION SESSIONS. USING DATA COLLECTED IN A FOUR YEAR STUDY, THE SUCCESS OF GROUP TREATMENT PROGRAMS AND OTHER FORMS OF REHABILITATION ARE COMPARED. THE APPENDIXES OFFER A GLOSSARY OF TERMS USED IN GROUP INTERACTION AND A DESCRIPTION OF TESTING SCALES AND INDICES.
