Abstract
MATERIAL ON LEGAL JUSTICE AMONG CANADIAN NATIVE PEOPLE IS PRESENTED BY LISTING ALL THE EXISTING DATA BASES ALONG WITH A DESCRIPTION OF VARIOUS STUDIES EITHER ONGOING OR CURRENTLY UNDER CONSIDERATION BY THE CANADIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS OR PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS; AND BY LISTING SELECTED IMPORTANT STUDIES CARRIED OUT IN THE RECENT PAST ALONG WITH A SYNOPSIS OF PURPOSE AND CONTENT. A LIST OF LITERATURE RELEVANT TO THE SUBJECT AREA IS ALSO GIVEN. THE FOLLOWING DATA BASES THAT ARE SOURCES OF INFORMATION ON NATIVE OFFENDERS ARE DESCRIBED IN SECTION TWO: 1) THE INMATE RECORD SYSTEM, 2) THE TREASURY BOARD TAPE 'SOL: 08 NATIVE,' 3) THE F.P.S. REPORT SYSTEM (CRIME HISTORIES OF OFFENDERS), AND 4) THE NATIONAL PAROLE STATISTICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM. COPIES OF VARIOUS FORMS USED BY THE CANADIAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM FOR RECORDING BASIC DATA ON INDIVIDUAL OFFENDERS ARE DISPLAYED IN A SERIES OF APPENDICES. (DEG)
