THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS OUTLINES OF CURRICULA FOR USE IN EDUCATING COURT PERSONNEL ABOUT COMPUTER AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THIS REPORT IS TO PROVIDE BASIC GUIDELINES TO ASSIST THE COURTS IN DEVELOPING PERSONNEL TRAINING CURRICULA TO ENHANCE UNDERSTANDING, ACCEPTANCE AND PARTICIPATION IN COMPUTER SYSTEMS. FOUR DETAILED CURRICULUM OUTLINES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO SERVE AS THE BASIS FOR DEVELOPING A COMPLETE TRAINING PACKAGE. EACH OF THESE MODULES IS DIRECTED TOWARDS ACHIEVING A SPECIFIC GOAL. THE FIRST ONE IS DESIGNED TO BUILD ACCEPTANCE FOR AND PROVIDE ORIENTATION TO THE PROPOSED COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE SECOND ORIENTS COURT PERSONNEL TO OVERALL COMPUTER AND SYSTEMS CONCEPTS. THE THIRD EXPLAINS SPECIFIC PROBLEM AREAS SUCH AS COMPUTERIZED JURY SELECTION AND THE USE OF THE COMPUTER TO MAINTAIN ATTORNEYS' SCHEDULES. THE FOURTH DEVELOPS SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS RELATING TO OPERATION AND USE OF THE COMPUTER AND PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT IN COURT OPERATIONS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
