COURSE OUTLINES ARE PRESENTED FOR DOCUMENT EXAMINATION, DRUG IDENTIFICATION, FORENSIC SEROLOGY, FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY, TRACE EVIDENCE EXAMINATION, AND FOR FIREARMS, TOOLMARK, AND SERIAL NUMBER EXAMINATIONS.
Abstract
EACH OF THESE SIX DIVISIONS ARE SUBDIVIDED BY SPECIFIC TASKS. FOR EACH TASK, AN OUTLINE IS PROVIDED WHICH INDICATES THE KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED, THE SKILLS REQUIRED, THE TRAINING REQUIRED, THE TRAINING EVALUATION, AND THE ESTIMATED TIME FOR COMPLETION. EACH MAJOR DIVISION REQUIRES APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS OF TRAINING. SEVERAL OF THE SUBDIVISION OUTLINES CONTAIN BIBLIOGRAPHIES WITH WHICH THE IN-SERVICE TRAINEE MUST FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF. IN SUMMARY, THIS MANUAL DELINEATES THE BASIC FORMAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF PERSONS DESIRING TO ENTER CERTAIN FORENSIC SCIENCE SPECIALIZATIONS AND PROVIDES OUTLINES OF ADEQUATE IN-SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAMS.
