TECHNIQUES ARE DESCRIBED FOR THE PROPER COLLECTION, PRESERVATION, AND ANALYSIS OF EVIDENCE IN HIT AND RUN CASES.
Abstract
HAIR SAMPLES MAY TYPICALLY BE USED TO DETERMINE HUMAN OR ANIMAL ORIGIN, AND IN THE FORMER CASE, RACE. FIBRES MAY BE EXAMINED TO DETERMINE TYPE, COMPOSITION, AND COLOR, USING MACROSCOPIC, MICROSCOPIC, AND CHEMICAL TESTS. HAIR AND FIBRE ANALYSIS DOES NOT USUALLY EFFECT POSITIVE IDENTIFICATIONS, BUT MOST OFTEN CONTRIBUTE TO CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE.
