The American Correctional Association's Committee on Classification and Treatment prepared these guidelines for the effective classification and treatment of offenders.
Abstract
Organized to present a broad view of correctional classification, the handbook discusses the early history and philosophy of corrections and explains the rationale behind the current use of classification. Subsequent chapters review the total classification process, explain the need for new use and application of classification at the community level, and discuss the issue of classification at different points in institutional processes. The handbook also explores future ideas for community classification. 8 tables and 1 appendix
