This volume seeks to provide a dialogue on forensic sexology that is based on a process of investigation, critique, analysis, and systematic research rather than on sociopolitical dogma.
Abstract
The first section of the volume examines sexual behavior, orientation, and desire from an etiological and phenomenological perspective. Chapters specifically look at sodomy laws, pedophilia, incest taboo and sexual abuse, rape and sadomasochistic paraphilias, genital exhibitionism and voyeurism, medicolegal investigation of autoerotic asphyxial deaths, prostitution, transsexualism, and sexual harassment in the workplace. The second part of the volume considers the identification and case management of sex offenses in chapters on child sexual abuse victims, case management of sexual abuse victims and offenders, Satanism and ritual sex abuse, and adult sex offenders. The final part of the volume provides contributions on public policy and sex offenses; social and legal implications of paraphilia prevention; links between pornography and violence; impact of sexology on the provision of sex education, contraception, and abortion services; AIDS and sexology; sex policy and the law in China; forensic sexology in Russia, expert witnesses, and social advocacy for child sexual abuse victims.
