Abstract
DIVERSION FROM JAIL, THE ROLE OF THE JAIL IN THE COMMUNITY, WORKING IN JAILS BY INMATES AND WORK RELEASE PROGRAMS ARE DISCUSSED. OTHER PROGRAM AREAS INCLUDE HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES, SPECIAL OFFENDER NEEDS, RECREATION AND LEISURE SERVICES. EDUCATION PROGRAMS, INMATE LIBRARIES, RELIGIOUS PROGRAMS AND CANTEEN OPERATION PARAMETERS ARE GIVEN. THE FINAL CHAPTER DISCUSSES WAYS TO UTILIZE VOLUNTEERS FROM THE COMMUNITY.
