This handbook provides the information needed by professionals working with adolescents to understand and recognize their major psychosocial problems.
Abstract
The preface notes that accidents, homicide, and suicide, the three leading causes of death among adolescents, are all largely preventable and are directly related to psychosocial and developmental issues. The individual chapters are written by experienced clinicians and research scientists who are recognized experts in their fields. Topics include family problems, drug abuse, head injury, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, suicide, juvenile gang involvement, delinquency and other antisocial behavior, reproductive health, sexual and physical abuse, eating disorders, and psychosis.
