MONTHLY DATA ARE COLLECTED FROM POLICE, COURTS, AND CORRECTIONS AND AGGREGATED INTO FIGURES FOR DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITY TO DETECT TRENDS AND SUDDEN CHANGES IN RATES.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM INCLUDES DATA COLLECTION INSTRUEMNTS USED AT SOURCE POINTS THROUGHOUT THE STATES OF THE REGION, A MEANS OF TRANSMITTING THESE DATA TO THE CENTRAL OFFICE, A CENTRAL PROCESSING SYSTEM, AND A REPORTING PROCEDURE. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING DATA NEEDED BY MANAGEMENT AT ALL LEVELS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, DATA IS ALSO USED FOR PROJECT EVALUATION AND RESEARCH. ECONOMIC, SOCIAL SERVICE, DEMOGRAPHIC, AND ATTITUDINAL DATA ARE INCLUDED, AS WELL AS DATA SPECIFIC TO THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM.
