This 1985-1986 followup study examined the experiences of 55 clients receiving family-centered, home-based services and a comparison group of 58 adolescents receiving other services through the Hennepin County Child Welfare Division, Minn.
Abstract
Overall, there were only minimal differences between the two groups in the total number of out-of-home placements used: 57 percent of home-based clients were in shelter placements, compared with 37 percent of comparison clients. In addition, home-based clients used nearly 1,900 fewer days in placement and completed placement episodes successfully at higher a rate than did comparison clients. Home-based clients also completed placements successfully in a shorter time and spent fewer days in 'failed' placements. Home-based clients used a smaller proportion of available placement time used by both groups varied by client age, sex, race, and placement history. Overall, home-based clients used a significantly lower level of placement resources than did comparison group clients. 23 tables and 5 notes.
