Abstract
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MATERIAL FOCUSES ON THE ROLE OF THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR AND THE INVESTIGATIVE PROCEDURE HE FOLLOWS IN HIS SEARCH FOR THE TURTH CONCERNING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF A HOMICIDE, A SUICIDE, A SEXUAL ASSAULT RESULTING IN DEATH, OR A HOMICIDAL ASSAULT ON A CHILD. VARIOUS METHODS OF COMMITTING HOMICIDE ARE DISCUSSED FULLY WITH ILLUSTRATIONS THAT EMPHASIZE THE ROLE OF THE PATHOLOGISTS IN DETERMINING THE METHOD OF DEATH, MANNER OF DEATH, TIME OF DEATH AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE VICTIM. WOUNDS, THEIR CAUSATION AND RELATIONSHIP TO HOMICIDE, ARE EXPLANIED AND ILLUSTRATED. FOR THE FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST, CONTENT MATTER POINTS OUT THE MUTUAL PROBLEMS OF FIELD INVESTIGATION AND THE AUTOPSY EXAMINATION. THE CLOSE WORKING RELATIONSHIP OF THE PATHOLOGIST AND THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR DURING THE CRITICAL INITIAL PHASES OF THE INVESTIGATION IS EXPLAINED IN DETAIL. TEAM EFFORT ON THE PART OF THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR, PATHOLOGIST AND LABORATORY EXPERT IS STRESSED. (SNI ABSTRACT)
