Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data are presented for homicides (murder and non-negligent manslaughter) in North Dakota in 2010.
Abstract
In 2010, 11 homicides were known to North Dakota law enforcement agencies. Based on a State population estimate of 672,591, the homicide rate for the State was 1.6 per 100,000 population in 2010. Seven of the homicide victims were men, and 10 of the victims were adults (18 years old or older). A firearm was the weapon used in six of the homicides. Six of the homicides resulted from domestic-violence incidents. Ten of the 11 identified assailants were men, and all were adults. Although tribal law enforcement agencies and other Federal law enforcement entities in the State do not participate in the State UCR program, every effort is made to include all homicide incidents known to have occurred within the State's borders. For each of the 11 homicides a table shows the date and location (county or city), the age and sex of the victim and assailants, weapon used, relationship of the victim to the assailant, and the circumstances of the homicide. Another table presents North Dakota homicide totals and rates for each year from 1991 through 2010. For these same years, another table indicates the gender of homicide victims. 22 tables and 2 figures
