This book, written for professionals who deal with violence, murder, and suicide and for others concerned about the level of homicidal violence, discusses different psychiatric diagnoses to illustrate how clinical psychiatric conditions contribute to homicide and violence.
Abstract
The book integrates legal, sociological, epidemiological, biological, and psychiatric perspectives to show there is no one simple explanation for homicidal violence. Chapters cover schizophrenia, delusional disorders, borderline personality disorders, dependent personality disorders, narcissism, masochism, depression, juveniles and homicide, and sexual killing. Legal versus clinical views on homicide are examined in relation to diagnosis and voluntariness, and areas of recommended future research on psychiatric dimensions of homicide are identified.
