This 1992 annual report of the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department provides information and statistics on management operations, various correctional programs, and personnel management and training.
Abstract
During 1992, the Correctional Services Department managed 19 penal institutions that consisted of 10 prisons, two training centers, one drug addiction treatment center, one detention center, one psychiatric center, and four institutions with multiple roles. This report examines the effectiveness of institutional programs. Inmate statistics are provided. A section on aftercare and welfare addresses the halfway house program, welfare services, religious services, and the work of private community organizations. The section on personnel and training considers recruitment, the number of personnel, the program of the Staff Training Institute, overseas training seminars and conferences, staff relations and welfare, and sports and recreation. Other major sections of the report address inspectorate and management services, the management of camps for Vietnamese migrants, correctional services industries, and corrections administration. Appended tabular data
