This 1978-1979 report summarizes the organization, goals, activity, and accomplishments of the administrative, field operations, investigative operations, and technical bureaus of the Honolulu Police Department.
Abstract
Accomplishments included implementation of a new identification card system for police personnel, the initiation of a spouse awareness program, and initiation of supervisor's awareness classes for executive officers. In addition, special crime prevention programs were established (robbery awareness, law and justice awareness program, and the police activities league). The field operations bureau reported increases in Part I and Part II offenses ranging from 9 to 67 percent, and the investigative operations bureau reported implementation of the Obtaining Monies Through Deceit Detail program, which closed down a major bookmaking operation tied to a known underworld source. Further highlights of the year, an organizational chart and a map, and offense data are provided.
