The report describes the responsibilities and accomplishments during 1980-81 of the Honolulu Police Department's various divisions (administrative, personnel, training, research and development, community relations, tactical operations, traffic, etc.).
Abstract
The number of uniformed and civilian police personnel increased in 1980-81, and the Department's closed circuit television capabilities in training, production of public service announcements, video taping of physical lineups, and video work for the new Crime Stoppers Program have been emphasized. In police district I, a 'Know Your Banker' program was instituted, in which beat officers visited financial institutions on their beats and established a rapport with bank personnel. Additional information is given on civil defense activities, on investigative operations, on juvenile crime prevention, on vehicle and radio maintenance, and on document identification. Personnel, budget, and enforcement statistics are provided.
