This annual report presents information on departmental organization, crime trends, law enforcement activities, police involvement in community affairs, technology and equipment, interdepartmental and intergovernmental issues, and staff and support activities.
Abstract
Crime trends from 1977-1982 are presented for Part I offenses, and a graph of crime rates for violent and property crime are provided. Law enforcement activities are briefly described with regard to dealing with drug abuse, prostitution, cockfighting, and truancy. A new computerized system for retrieving interrogation reports is also described. The police community-affairs activities portrayed include the Police Athletic League, school programs, rape prevention, the Explorers Program, block watch, and checks on business establishments. The interdepartmental and intergovernmental issues include an intelligence network, funeral escorts, interagency conferences and seminars, and a Misdemeanor Followup Unit. The staff and support activities include training, budget, and a vehicle maintenance program.
