REPORT OF THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF SECURITY TRAINING PROCEDURES WERE STUDIED IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE UNITED STATES WITH 10,000 OR MORE STUDENTS.
Abstract
IT WAS FOUND THAT LESS THAN HALF OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT EMPLOY THEIR OWN SECURITY OFFICERS HAVE A FORMAL TRAINING PROGRAM FOR THEM AND THAT THE MOST PREVALENT PROGRAM IS ON-THE-JOB-TRAINING. THE AUTHOR STATES THAT THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT THERE APPEAR TO BE NO STANDARDS OF TRANSFERABILITY IN TRAINING AND THAT TRAINING EFFORTS HAVE NO SIGNIFICANCE BEYOND THAT ACCORDED BY LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.
