Abstract
Identification specialists are the crime scene illustrators. Techniques such as drawings and charts can be frequently helpful in their work, particularly in clarifying obscure details that may go unnoticed otherwise. Several cases are mentioned where identification specialists' drawings and photographic matching enhanced the value of the evidence. Awareness and understanding of court procedures and defense attorneys' motivation and tricks are also requirements of the expert witness function. Three references are given.
