UNDERDEVELOPMENT OF CRIMINOLOGY AS A THEORETICAL OR PRACTICAL DISCIPLINE IN PERU EXEMPLIFIES THE LACK OF A COMMON SYSTEM OF IDEAS IN LATIN AMERICAN CRIMINOLOGY.
Abstract
THERE IS NO DISTINCTLY LATIN AMERICAN CRIMINOLOGY BECAUSE THE VARIOUS COUNTRIES OF THE REGION ARE AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD. THE AUTHOR GIVES PERU AS AN EXAMPLE OF A COUNTRY WHICH HAS NOT YET DEVELOPED A NATIONAL PROGRAM OF CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH OR A COORDINATED APPROACH TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ON THE BASIS OF SUCH RESEARCH. THIS PAPER WAS PRESENTED TO THE INTER-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ON CRIMINOLOGY IN 1971. --IN SPANISH
