Abstract
A YEAR-END REVIEW OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE STATE SUPREME COURT, THE APPELLATE COURT, AND THE CIRCUIT COURTS INCLUDES JURISDICTIONS, COURT ORGANIZATION, CASELOADS, AND JUDICIAL RETIREMENTS. CHARTS SHOW THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ILLINOIS COURT SYSTEM AND THE COOK COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT. NOTES ON VARIOUS JUDICIAL CONFERENCES HELD DURING THE YEAR ARE PROVIDED. FEDERAL FUNDING OF STATE COURT PROGRAMS, COURT FACILITY IMPROVEMENT, THE INCREASE IN JUDGESHIPS, THE COMPULSORY RETIREMENT OF JUDGES, AND A CONFERENCE OF CHIEF CIRCUIT JUDGES ARE DISCUSSED. A YEAR-END REVIEW OF THE OPERATION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE COVERS PERSONNEL AND FISCAL MATTERS, JUDICIAL STATISTICS, AND LEGISLATION, AMONG OTHER TOPICS.
