DATA ARE PRESENTED SHOWING THE IMPACT OF TWO EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAMS ON THE SOCIAL CLIMATES OF TWO INSTITUTIONS FOR MALE JUVENILE DELINQUENTS.
Abstract
AS PART OF A RESEARCH PROJECT IN WHICH BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION WAS INTRODUCED IN ONE INSTITUTION AND TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS IN ANOTHER, THE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS' ENVIRONMENT SCALE WAS ADMINISTERED ONCE EARLY IN THE STUDY AND AGAIN MORE THAN TWO YEARS LATER. LARGE DIFFERENCES IN THE PERCEPTIONS OF RESIDENTS WERE OBTAINED ON POSTTESTS, WITH THOSE IN THE TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS PROGRAM EXPRESSING MORE POSITIVE OPINIONS ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH STAFF AND THE USEFULNESS OF THE PROGRAM.
