FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO REDUCE CRIME AND DELINQUENCY THROUGH INVOLVEMENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF JUNIOR LEAGUES (AJL) IN PROMOTING, FACILITATING, AND PARTICIPATING IN EFFORTS TO EFFECT CHANGES IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE PROJECT GOALS, NATIONAL COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY (NCCD) ASSISTANCE WAS OBTAINED IN PREPARING A TRAINING INSTITUTE FOR LOCAL JUNIOR LEAGUE DELEGATES AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. FORUMS AND WORKSHOPS COVERING ALL ASPECTS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM WERE HELD. REGIONAL FOLLOWUP SESSIONS WERE LATER HELD. NCCD EVALUATION, BASED LARGELY ON DATA ON AJL INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECTS RELATED TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE, INDICATES INCREASED INVOLVEMENT BY LOCAL LEAGUES. PROJECTS INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATION SERVICES, REFORM, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE EFFORTS.
