Abstract
DATA GATHERED FROM STUDIES OF SELECTED LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS ARE DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, COURTS, BAIL, PROSECUTION, YOUTH SERVICE BUREAUS, CORRECTIONS, INSTITUTIONAL CONSTRUCTION AND JUNIOR LEAGUE PRIORITIES. THIS GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE STATUS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS ALSO IDENTIFIES THE NEEDS OF THE SYSTEM. THE COMPLETE SURVEY CONTAINED MORE THAN 192 COMMUNITIES IN THE UNITED STATES AND EIGHT IN CANADA.
