This report describes the initiatives taken by governmental agencies in Yukon, Canada in response to recommendations made in 1984 by Canadian ministers at all levels of government that focus on ways of addressing the problem of wife beating.
Abstract
Actions taken include development of a child abuse protocol for use in Yukon schools, offering an expanded anger-management program to wife batterers and other inmates, establishment of an interagency task force on family violence, and making spousal assault a budget priority for 1986-87. Further actions include gathering data on the number of inmates convicted for spousal assault, inclusion of family violence in the family services curriculum in the high schools, and making school administrators aware of the legal consequences of spousal assault and other forms of family violence.
