THIS STUDY TAKES A LOOK AT THE FUNDING, STAFFING, AND OPERATIONS OF INDIAN TRIBAL COURTS.
Abstract
THIS STUDY FOCUSES ON JUDICIAL AND OTHER COURT PERSONNEL, JUDICIAL AND DETENTION FACILITIES, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, LAW REVISION AND LEGAL TRAINING PROGRAMS, ADMINISTRATION AND PROGRAM PLANNING, AND OVERALL FUNDING RESOURCES. IT RECOMMENDS THAT FUNDS OR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL TRIBES FOR PLANNING ON AN INDIVIDUAL TRIBAL LEVEL, AND THAT ADEQUATE FACILITIES BE MAINTAINED FOR EACH TRIBAL COURT ON THE BASIS OF NEEDS EXPRESSED IN TRIBAL COURT PLANS.
