A survey was conducted of police manpower and equipment in the Indiana Law Enforcement Agencies.
Abstract
Information is provided on the total number of full-time officers, number and types of departments, municipal and County officers, race and sex of officers, officer training and training needs, vehicles, and weapons. The departments' top training needs are for firearms training, continuing education in law, policy, legislation, defensive tactics, hazardous materials, supervisory training, domestic violence, community relations, basic training, and first aid including cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Also listed are the 17 departments in Indiana that report 100 or more officers. In addition, statistical data are given in alphabetical order of State, County, and municipal police departments regarding full-time, part-time, and reserves personnel. Data on miscellaneous departments covers universities, school, airport, academies, railroads, and commuter and parks police.
