DEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD OF LIGHT INTENSIFICATION WHICH HAS GREATLY INCREASED THE NIGHTTIME SURVEILLANCE CAPABILITY OF THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE.
Abstract

THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE EQUIPMENT AND TESTS USED BY THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TO OBTAIN PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE TO AID IN THE PROSECUTION OF NIGHT SNIPERS IN CAIRO, ILLINOIS. AN INFRARED LIGHT SOURCE AND SPECIAL NIGHT SCOPE MADE IT POSSIBLE TO TAKE PICTURES WHICH WERE CLEAR ENOUGH, AT A DISTANCE OF ONE-QUARTER MILE, TO BE USED IN EVIDENCE AT A JURY TRIAL.
