VOCATIONAL TRAINING PLAN FOR PRISON INMATES DEVELOPED FOR NEW ENGAND CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
Abstract
LABOR MARKET ANALYSES AND OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT STUDIES WERE CONDUCTED FOR EACH NEW ENGLAND STATE. THESE DATA WERE RELATED TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF RELEASED OFFENDERS, THE NEEDS OF INSTITUTIONS AND INMATES, CURRENT TRAINING PROGRAMS, AND THE FEASIBILITY OF CONDUCTING ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS. A SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDED TRAINING COURSES AND CURRICULA OUTLINES IS PROVIDED. THESE TRAINING GUIDELINES RESULTED FROM AN EXAMINATION OF PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO TRAIN AND EMPLOY POVERTY POPULATIONS, BECAUSE THESE TRAINEES MANIFESTED CHARACTERISTICS SIMILAR TO PRISON INMATES.
