THE MEANS BY WHICH FORMERLY INCARCERATED PERSONS MAY ENROLL IN TE UNIVERSITY ARE REVIEWED, AND INFORMATION SUCH AS GRADE POINT AVERAGE, DEGREES RECEIVED, AND COURSE HOURS COMPLETED IS PROVIDED FOR 25 INMATE-STUDENTS.
Abstract
OTHER TYPES OF INFORMATION GIVEN IN THIS REPORT INCLUDES THE INSTITUTION OF INCARCERATION FOR INMATE-STUDENTS, THE MEAN AND MEDIAN SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST SCORES OF THIS GROUP, THE AVERAGE AGE AND AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT IN INCARCERATION, AND COLLEGE OF ENROLLMENT. IT WAS NOTED THAT IN THE PAST NINE YEARS, ONLY ONE INMATE-STUDENT HAS RECEIVED A BACHELOR'S DEGREE. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE THAT THE DATA INDICATE THAT INMATE-STUDENTS HAVE DIFFICULTY COMPLETING ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS. BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THESE STUDENTS MIGHT PROFIT FROM SPACIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
