This article describes various types of patrol craft available to law enforcement agencies to help them carry out search and rescue missions.
Abstract
Customs, waterborne police units, and other agencies concerned with law enforcement in maritime nations all have at least occasional use for boats to apprehend pirates, intercept smugglers, and capture fishing poachers. The model of patrol craft most suitable for a particular agency will depend on the primary function it is expected to fulfill, sea conditions, the type of law-breaker who might be encountered on a patrol, financial constraints, and the need for various types of weapons. The article outlines the features and specifications of several patrol craft.
