SUMMARY OF PROJECT ESTABLISHMENT, AND ANALYSIS OF DATA RESULTING FROM THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A FOUR-YEAR PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE NATURE OF BUSINESS PLACE BURGLARY IN CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, A SIMPLE ALARM SYSTEM WAS DEVELOPED CONNECTING 350 BUSINESS PLACES WITH A CENTRAL POLICE FACILITY. ANALYSIS OF BUSINESSES UTILIZING THE SYSTEM WITH A CONTROL SAMPLE INDICATES SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS IN TERMS OF SUCH RATE MEASUREMENTS AS ARRESTS, CLEARANCES, LOSSES, ALARMS RECEIVED, SYSTEM FAILURES AND DEFEATS, AND FALSE ALARMS. FOR THE FIRST YEAR OPERATIONAL REPORT AND A FINAL OVERVIEW OF THIS PROJECT, RESPECTIVELY, SEE NCJ-001748 AND NCJ-004986.
