This report covers the period from July 1, 1976, to June 30, 1977, and reviews the research pursued during this time in the effort to contribute to Alberta legislation.
Abstract
The institute's work is compared to that of law reform commissions in other parts of Canada. Personnel responsibilities and authority is delineated. Four reports were issued in 1976-77 dealing with purchase by a company of shares which it issued, residential tenancies, partition and sale, and the Survival of Actions and Fatal Accidents Amendment. Listed are 15 current law, reform projects on such topics as administration law, company law, confidentiality of government documents, evidence, family law, labor law, and others. Working practices of the institute and its approach to drafting legislation are explained, as is the institute's research function and its relation with the University of Alberta. A listing of the institute's reports and Alberta legislation is appended.
