The Howard League of the United Kingdom proposes an integrated approach to criminal justice which involves three components: education, research, and advocacy.
Abstract
League restructuring will necessitate reassessment of the role of members of the Howard League, establishment of a funding base, and coordination of the league's operations in Scotland with those in London. The league will develop annual lectures, training for criminal justice personnel, a library, and expanded publication services. It will assist prisoners whose cases involve principles that need to be clarified or altered, and it will raise issues in public debate which are neglected in public policy statements.
