Officials involved in the Integrated Criminal Apprehension Program (ICAP) are introduced; technical assistance programs for ICAP are highlighted, particularly those for the elderly; and published material available on ICAP is presented.
Abstract
One example of technial assistance for ICAP involved a grant from LEAA to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). AARP developed a manual and training seminar focusing on victimization of the elderly (covering crime type, frequency, and analysis), the process of aging and the law enforcement response, the older person as a volunteer in the criminal justice system, and communicating with older people. AARP also has designed a direct assistance program to help police and other criminal justice agencies implement a volunteer program that uses senior citizens. Material on technical assistance for ICAP includes manuals, program guides, and programs. All of this information is available through NCJRS.
