Annotation
This videotape examines the legal and policy, operational and management, and technological issues surrounding the topic of information-sharing within and between justice agencies.
Abstract
The videotape premiered at the 1996 Symposium on Integrated Justice Information Systems. The symposium was cosponsored by SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, and the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice. The videotape features brief discussions of several justice information-sharing projects throughout the country: Marin County, CA; the State of Delaware; Baltimore, MD; Midtown Manhattan, NY; District of Columbia; and Orange County, CA. While the projects differ in the specifics of their implementation, they all feature combined efforts by police, corrections, and court personnel. There is a heavy emphasis on preparation, on being sure that all elements with an interest in and need for integrated justice information systems participate in system design.
