This document encourages local agencies in Great Britain to develop interagency cooperation in the area of domestic violence prevention.
Abstract
While various forms of cooperation between statutory and voluntary agencies exist in Great Britain, one of the more effective means of consolidating resources and strategies lies in the formation of domestic violence fora. This document discusses the nature and extent of domestic violence in Great Britain, and outlines the ways in which interagency coordination can enhance the local response to domestic violence. The report summarizes the role and responsibilities of statutory agencies (i.e., the Home Office, police, Probation Service, local housing authorities, and prosecutors) and voluntary agencies representing women, victims, and ethnic minorities in eliminating or reducing domestic violence. 2 appendixes
