COUNCIL'S FIRST ANNUAL REPORT ON ALL FEDERAL ACTIVITIES IN THE FIELD OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, AND RELATED PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THE 1971 JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND CONTROL ACT AMENDMENTS AUTHORIZED THE FORMATION OF THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL COUNCIL TO COORDINATE ALL FEDERAL JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PROGRAMS. CHAPTER 1 COVERS THE COUNCIL'S OWN ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN FISCAL 1972. CHAPTER 2 PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF ALL FEDERAL JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND RELATED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, A SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF WHICH HAS BEEN ADAPTED FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S FIRST ANNUAL REPORT ON FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACTIVITIES. THE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS THAT DEAL SPECIFICALLY WITH THE ACTIVITIES OF THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ADMINISTRATION ARE SUMMARIZED IN APPENDIX A OF THIS REPORT. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS VOLUME IS A DIRECTORY OF FEDERALLY SPONSORED JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PROGRAMS. THIS DIRECTORY, WHICH ALSO EXPLAINS HOW STATES AND LOCALITIES CAN APPLY FOR GRANTS FROM FEDERAL AGENCIES HAS BEEN ISSUED AS A SEPARATE DOCUMENT, (NCJ-09158). ANOTHER APPENDIX IS THE CENSUS BUREAU PHASE I REPORT ON THE NATURE, SCOPE AND APPROACH OF 197 PROGRAMS IN EXISTENCE DURING 1971. (SNI ABSTRACT)
