These illustrated guidelines are intended to help correctional staff to establish appropriate precautions for infection control in correctional facilities.
Abstract
The guidelines emphasize the roles of education for both inmates and staff. They also explain universal blood and body fluid precautions, noting that handwashing is the single most important means of preventing infection. Further guidelines cover the equipment and supplies, the cleaning of cells and the kitchen, and the handling of laundry. They also explain precautions to be observed with inmates who have an infectious disease including facilities and decisions regarding isolation.
