'INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT' ENCOMPASSES ALL FORMS OF JUVENILE TREATMENT THAT FALL BETWEEN COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE CHILD FROM HIS PARENTS AND HOME AND ALLOWING THE CHILD TO REMAIN AT HOME.
Abstract
THE MAIN PRACTICAL EFFECT OF INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT IS TO MAKE ADDITIONAL TREATMENT RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO THE SUPERVISOR (USUALLY A LOCAL AUTHORITY OR A PROBATION OFFICER). AN INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT REQUIREMENT MAY ENTAIL TWO DIFFERENT FORMS - RESIDENCE AT A SPECIFIED PLACE FOR A FIXED PERIOD OF NOT MORE THAN THREE MONTHS, AND TEMPORARY RESIDENCE, ATTENDANCE OR PARTICIPATION FOR A PERIOD OR PERIODS TOTALLING NOT MORE THAN ONE MONTH IN EACH YEAR OF SUPERVISION. DISCUSSED ARE THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK OF INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT AND THE CONTENT AND PREPARATION OF INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT PLANS. APPENDIX A CONTAINS THE MAIN STATUTORY PROVISIONS RELATING TO INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT. APPENDIX B DESCRIBES THE KINDS OF FACILITIES APPROVED FOR INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT; AND APPENDIX C CONTAINS A TABLE OF APPROVED FACILITIES WITH PERTINENT DATA.
