Using the Internet is one of the most important actions fire investigators can take, because it enables them to expand their professional contacts significantly, as well as to retrieve information on products directly from companies, share experiences with others, maintain timely contact, and keep their knowledge current.
Abstract
The Internet is a mail communications tool that is useful for sending and receiving mail to individuals and agencies around the world. Computers as servers are used for special interest groups for fire investigators and others. Internet web sites are sources of information; users search the information by topic or key words. Most major companies have web pages containing product literature, company information, and telephone numbers. Becoming connected to the Internet requires either a Macintosh or IBM-compatible computer, a modem, and an Internet service provider. The International Association of Arson Investigators has an e-mail address and a Home Page to serve its members. Author photograph
