Abstract
PROFESSOR KIRKHAM ALSO COVERS THE CHANGING VIEWPOINT OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC TOWARDS POLICE OFFICERS, AND GOES ON TO DISCUSS THE PRESS AND THE POLICE, THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LEAA FUNDING, AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF INEQUALITY AND POVERTY IN SOCIETY. SIDE TWO FOCUSES UPON THE CREATION OF NEW TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR POLICE PERSONNEL AND THE NEED FOR SOLVING HUMAN PROBLEMS FOR BOTH THE OFFICERS AND THE PUBLIC.
