Abstract
THE BOOK, INTENDED TO BE USED AS A TEXTBOOK, DISCUSSES THE CHARACTER AND EXTENT OF CRIMINAL ACTS AND HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY THEORIES ON THE CAUSES OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. STYLES OF POLICING TECHNIQUES, AND THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A POLICING AGENCY ARE PRESENTED. THE FUNCTION OF THE COURT SYSTEM AT ITS VARIOUS LEVELS AND THE THEORY AND CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE OF CORRECTIONS ARE TREATED. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND PROFESSIONALIZATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PERSONNEL IS CONSIDERED. THE INTERVIEW PROCESS AS A MANAGEMENT TOOL FOR ENTRANCE LEVEL AND PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS EXAMINED. FUTURE TRENDS IN CONCEPTS AND PRIORITIES OF THE JUSTICE SYSTEM ARE PROJECTED. TO AID THE STUDENT, EACH CHAPTER BEGINS WITH A SET OF OBJECTIVES, DIRECTING THE READER TO THE CHAPTER INFORMATION THAT CONTAINS THE AUTHOR'S CRITICAL POINTS. EACH CHAPTER IS WRITTEN BY AN EXPERT IN HIS FIELD.
