Abstract
THE COURSE IS INTENDED TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO IDENTIFY, ACQUIRE, AND USE THE BEST AVAILABLE DATA, TECHNIQUES OF ANALYSIS, AND PROBLEMSOLVING METHODS WITH REGARD TO CRIME AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. COURSE MODULES COVER PROBLEM FORMULATION, DATA COLLECTION, CRIME DATA INTERPRETATION, CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM DATA INTERPRETATION, IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ANALYSIS, AND PRESENTATION OF FINDINGS. THE TRAINER'S GUIDE PROVIDES THE BASIC MATERIALS NEEDED TO DELIVER THE COURSE. EACH MODULE OPENS WITH A BRIEF STATEMENT OF THE RATIONALE FOR THE MODULE AND THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE MODULE TO THE OVERALL COURSE. GUIDELINES FOR ORGANIZING AND PACING THE PRESENTATION ARE INCLUDED.
