This guide is designed to assist the instructor in developing an appropriate lesson plan to cover the performance objectives for training California police in introduction to law; crime elements; criminal intent; parties to crimes; defenses; attempt, conspiracy, and solicitation; and obstruction of justice.
Abstract
The learning goal in the course on introduction to law is for the student to understand and have a working knowledge of the legal principles upon which criminal law in California operates; and the learning goal in the course on crime elements is for the student to understand and have a working knowledge of the basic elements of crimes as defined in California law. The course on criminal intent is designed to produce a working knowledge of the concept of "intent" in California criminal law. The learning goal for the course on defenses focuses on producing a working knowledge of the concept of entrapment and who is legally incapable of committing a crime in California. The learning goals of the other courses are designed to yield a student working knowledge of concepts and law pertinent to the targeted crimes or crime elements. For each course, performance objectives are listed, followed by an outline of the content of each course. Supporting material and 13 references
