THIS MANUAL FOR POLICE INSTRUCTORS OUTLINES A TEXTBOOK COVERING THE MAJOR CONCEPTS AND PROCEDURES OF MODERN CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FROM A PRACTICAL VIEWPOINT.
Abstract
EACH CHAPTER IN THE MANUAL PRESENTS AN OUTLINE AND A SUMMARY OF THE MATERIAL IN THE TEXT, AS WELL AS ANSWERS TO QUIZZES FOUND IN THE TEXT AND SUGGESTIONS FOR PROJECT AND TERM PAPER TOPICS. THE STUDENT TEXT, AS REPLICATED IN OUTLINE FORM IN THIS INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL, PRESENTS THE CONCEPTS AND PROCEDURES IN THE SEQUENCE IN WHICH THEY WOULD BE ENCOUNTERED IN AN ACTUAL INVESTIGATION: THE INITIAL RESPONSE TO A CRIME REPORT, COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE AT THE CRIME SCENE, INTERVIEWS OF WITNESSES, LABORATORY EXAMINATION OF EVIDENCE, USE OF INFORMANTS AND OTHER INFORMATION SOURCES, CASE REVIEW AND EVALUATION, ARREST LAW AND TECHNIQUES, AND PRESENTATION OF EVIDENCE IN COURT.
